Examining some of the factors that will influence the future of military installations in Canada and their impact on the capabilities of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). The arrival of a new Chief of the Defence Staff and the pandemic’s budgetary implications, coupled with increasing national security and defence concerns, may only offer the Canadian government difficult choices when dealing with the future need for military installations.
Digitalization is not a panacea, but it is the key to NATO’s proficiency across all seven emerging and disruptive technology areas. A digitalized NATO carries out the same enduring mission that it has had since 1949, but the form and function of the Alliance must be different to compete and win in an increasingly complex operating environment. NATO has the tools to digitalize masterfully; its allies expect no less.
As the federal government considers options to reset the economic, financial and tax regimes in a post-COVID-19 era, there is a tremendous opportunity to introduce behavioural economics as a vehicle for encouraging best practices in cybersecurity for Canadian companies.
Our objective is to bring together distinguished leaders in academia, industry and government from Canada and worldwide who provide research, policy recommendations, and analysis on a full range of public policy issues, including defence, national security, technology, and the economy.
Our Selection Committee meets several times per year and recommends candidates to the Honourary Fellowship Company Program. Successful candidates are then invited to participate in publications, guest speakers, or attend other special events. Samuel Associates confers the title of Honourary Fellow to each of our nominated candidates to appreciate their contribution to public policy discourse.

We work with scholars and leaders who wish to share their in-depth research, nonpartisan policy analysis, and original perspectives on strategic policy matters through our Policy Insights Forum. To accomplish this initiative, we issue publications, organize roundtable discussions and other company-sponsored events. We also partner with policy think‐tanks and government organizations in Canada, the U.S. and abroad.
