Dr. Atul Dar, Ph.D., is a Senior Economist with Samuel Associates. Dr. Dar provides Samuel's clients with a strategic analysis of international economic issues and advice. He brings to the firm a deep understanding of macroeconomic performance and its effects on trade policy, government debt, Canadian labour markets and regulatory quality on the economic growth of nations.

Dr. Dar comes to the firm after his most recent tenure and lengthy career as a renowned educator, researcher and economist. After obtaining his doctorate from McMaster University in 1981, he joined Saint Mary's University and was a faculty member at the Sobey School of Business Economics until his retirement in December 2022. During this period, he also worked as an Economist at the Royal Bank. While at the Royal Bank, he tracked, analyzed, and forecasted business conditions in the US economy.

Dr. Dar's contractual and specialized research ranged from estimating components of Canada-India trade in services and analyzing the social-economic and demographic profile of immigrants in Nova Scotia and healthcare access issues in the Atlantic region.
